The Bands played in parades, formations, dress parades, and evening concerts.

The appearance of the Union drum was that they were made of wood, cut into byers, formed into round shells, and was painted to be very patriotic.

The popular song '' Pea Ridge March'' was dedicated to major general Franz Sigel.

One very important person in history is John Joseph“Johnny” Clem ,He served as a drummer/messenger for the entire war, he was also made lieutenant in 1871, and he retired as a brigadier general .

The apperance of the fife was that they were hollow rose wood wih brass fittings and engravings.

The Instruments of the Civil War were Fifes, Drums, Bugles, banjos, Fiddles, Jews harp, and Hermonicas.

The importance of a drummer is that they need to make up the soldiers, signal them to report for morning roll call, sick call, and guard duty, to tell the soldiers lights out, and to call for formation, and to communicate orders to movement.

The importance of music is to remind the north and south why they are fighting and to inspire people to enlist.

A couple favorite songs are LORENA, HOME SWEET HOME, and DIXIE LANDand that song was played in the movie GONE WITH THE WIND

A famous song of the north is Battle Hymn of the Republic and a famous song in the south is The Bonnie Blue Flag.
